Loss of gaming funding for school playgrounds is expected to be a devastating blow for at least 16 elementary schools that were looking to rebuild their playgrounds.
The province cancelled the program for 2010/'11, saying the program's mandate had been fulfilled and $4 million had been spent on playground renovations.
Schools that missed the cut will now have to look elsewhere for sources of funding or put their projects on hold.
